Flight Deal: US to Italy From $326 Round-Trip

We know it's only November, but now's the time to start planning your 2019 vacationsâ€"and we've got the perfect flight deal to get you started. Thanks to American, Air Canada, Delta, Iberia, Lufthansa, Swiss, United, and Air Italy, round-trip flights from more than 13 U.S. cities to Italy are over half off right now. You can fly from New York to Rome starting at $326 round-trip, or San Francisco to Milan for as little as $449 round-trip, according to Scott's Cheap Flights, who found the deal. Travel is available from December to Mayâ€"just make sure you book fast. The deal went live Monday, November 5, and will probably disappear within 48 hours.

Flights to Rome, Milan, and Bologna are all discounted, but we'll admit itâ€"we're extremely partial to Rome. The Renaissance buildings, impressive hotel scene, and, of course, all the pizza make Italy's capital an in toxicating destination. Our city editor, Erin Florio, recommends bunking down at hotelHotel Vilòn$$A snazzy new hotel that’s got everyone talkingHotel Vilòn , a newcomer that has spacious, airy rooms, toiletries made from Dead Sea minerals, and a dedicated pillow menu. From there, fan out to classics like the activityPantheonOne of Rome's best preserved ancient buildingsPantheon and activityColosseumSymbol of the city's enduring grandeurâ€"and complex historyColosseum, as well less-frequented attractions like activityVilla FarnesinaRenaissance gemVilla Farnesina (think Renaissance art sans the crowds of the activityThe Sistine ChapelLook past the hype and the crowds to the art itselfâ€"it's...The Sistine Chapel ). And definitely, definitely grab an aperitivo while you're in town: barThe Stravinskij Bar at Hotel de Russie$$$Get your grown-up on in a dazzling outdoor cocktail barThe Stravinskij Bar at Hotel de Russie has lovely gardens and complimentary snacks with your drink.

How to book: Our search found flights running from these major U.S. citiesâ€"New York, Newark, Washington D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Portland, and Seattleâ€"plus cities that don't get as many flight deals, like Nashville and Cincinnati. To see if a city near you is participating, check Google Flights. You can use the calendar tool to find the best dates and prices for your scheduleâ€"keep an eye out for the lowest fares, highlighted in green. As always, make sure you select "one stop or fewer" before you book, since a few stragglers have two layovers. The rest have a doable one- to four-hour layover. And watch out for "basic economy" versus regular economy when you're checking faresâ€"it could mean the difference between paying for your checked bag or checking for free.
